Campaign Direction: Holidays at Alamo

At Alamo Drafthouse, there are few creative campaigns more important than our annual holiday gift card initiative, and leading its execution across in-theater commercials, print ads, and motion graphics was a challenge I relished. From conceptualizing the campaign itself, to leveraging resources, to directing commercials, to art directing assets, to project management, this campaign provides an excellent summary of the many Santa hats I wear in my job.

Print Posters

Our print campaign was designed to evoke a mid-century aesthetic (think Mad Men) with a hint of snark and a wink at movie lovers.

Motion Posters

These assets bridge the gap between print posters and social media, giving us a way to bring the campaign to life on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and more. We also featured them in theater lobbies equipped with video poster frames.

A Holistic Approach

One of the hallmarks of a good campaign is strategic thinking and attention to detail. Here, we created Black Friday assets that would appropriately kick off our campaign and introduce our Design language while also differentiating themselves from the more traditionally holiday-themed assets to come.
